Intravenous sedation is a technique whereby a sedative is administered through a cannula in the arm or hand The sedative used is classified as a benzodiazepine and induces a state of deep relaxation. During treatment verbal contact is maintained throughout but post-treatment you are unlikely to recall any of the procedure or conversation.
